GREENSBORO, MD – Mae Breeding Bishop, 92 died on Saturday August 11, 2012 in her home, after a long illness. She was born on January 16, 1920 to the late Frank and Sarah Breeding of Goldsboro. She was married for 68 years to her husband Edgar D. Bishop. Together they farmed, raised a family and did some traveling. Mae was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Her family was her life. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Greensboro, teaching Sunday school and serving on the Alter Guild. She drove a school bus for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edgar D. Bishop in 2005, son Edgar D. Bishop, Jr., daughters, Anna Jane, Lynn, brothers Linwood Breeding of Hebron, Walter Breeding of Greensboro, sisters Myrtle Downes of Camden, DE, Lillian Bishop of Denton, Dorothy Thoroughgood of Rehoboth, DE, Barbara Porter of Greensboro, Carlotta Breeding of Goldsboro, and one grandson Jeff Bishop of Goldsboro. She is survived by her sister Ruth Bowers of Clayton, DE, son Richard Bishop, (Barb), daughters Virginia Jones (Bill), Janice Elliott all of Greensboro, Joan Fuchs (Louis) of Harrington, DE, Diane Whitby of Chester, and Eva Parker (John) of Dover, PA, twenty four grandchildren, forty eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Greensboro with visitation one hour prior to the service. Denton, MD; Charles F. Callahan, Sr. passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Baltimore at the age of 90. He was born on May 30, 1922 in Ridgely to the late Susie and Herman Callahan. Formerly of St. Michaels, he lived the past 10 years in Denton with his daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Don Mayorga. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Doris(Dotty) Callahan and daughter Doris Callahan Barnett. Mr. Callahan farmed for many years in Caroline and Talbot counties. He left the farming business to become a chicken grower and truck driver for Bay Shore Foods. Following years of driving he retired to become a house painter, working with his son Charles Jr., co-founder of West and Callahan Builders. After many years of painting and at the age of 80, he finally hung up his brushes to spend more time with his family. He is survived by his children Shirley and husband Don, Carol(Sis) Ball and husband Harry and Charles(Sonny) F. Callahan, Jr., 11 grandchildren Shana Stambro(Barry), Billie Jo Stambro(Lavant), Suzi Newnam, Lacey Scee, Danny, Dane and Doug Mayorga, Richard Ball, Sr.(Allison), John Ball, Charles(Chuck) F. He was born on Jan. 25, 1952 in Manchester, NH to Fred and Marion Parenteau of Denton. Mr. Parenteau served in the Maryland National Guard, Denton Infantry Unit, from 1970 through 1976. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sporting clays and spending time with his family and friends. As a professional trucker he had achieved driving a million safe miles. His is preceded in death by a brother Gary Parenteau and a sister Debra Parenteau. Marion Joseph Hutson Jr. passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 in Dorchester General Hospital at the age of 69. He was born in Goldsboro, MD to the late Marion J. Hutson Sr. and Cornelia Jane Lynch Hutson. He graduated from North Caroline High School, Class of 1961. He married Gracie Ball on Oct. 2, 1964 and they lived in Ridgley, Denton, and later in Federalsburg, MD. Mr. Hutson worked as a Long Haul trucker, hauling everything from food to money and he loved the open road.
Mr. Hutson was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1961 to 1965 on the U.S.S. Boxer, he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F. W. He enjoyed eating crabs, listening to the Grand Ol’ Opery, and watching cowboy movies. He was also a vintage car, tractor, and truck enthusiast. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gracie Ball Hutson, as well as his daughter Ellen Jane Hutson, Brother Le Roy Hutson, and Sisters Laura Robear and Mary Hammond. A Funeral Service will be held at the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral on Monday, Sept. 24 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave, Greensboro, MD, from 6 PM to 8 PM. Interment with Honors will be held following the funeral service at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock at 1:00 PM. Lottie L. Bishop
Lottie Bishop, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19th, 2012 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.
Lottie was born on March 29th, 1919 in Greensboro, Maryland to the late Howard and Sally Josephine Usilton. She attended Greensboro High School, where she graduated in 1936. In 1941, Lottie married Clifford Edward Bishop and moved to Wilmington, Delaware shortly thereafter.
Lottie was an incredibly hard-worker her entire life, and enjoyed a long and successful career in real estate. She always kept busy with different adventures, and loved to challenge herself when it came to learning and trying new things. Lottie was a talented painter, a wonderful cook, an avid driver, and an overall go-getter. Most importantly, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt.
Lottie will forever be remembered as such a loving person with the biggest heart. Her selflessness was unparalleled, and her wonderful personality and bright smile was cherished by all. She loved deeply, and was deeply loved.
Lottie is survived by her daughter Sally Hoosier and husband Robert, and by her son Donald Bishop and wife Mary. She is also survived by her granddaughter Kristen McCurdy and husband John, grandson Owen Bishop and wife Tiffany, grandson Trevor Bishop and wife Jessica, as well as by two great-grandchildren, Grace and Sterling Bishop.

James Edward Schaefer, 84 of Greensboro, passed away on Sept. 22, 1012 at his home. He was born on Dec. 20, 1927 to two loving parents Walter and Bazy Schaefer. He was called “Pop” by most everyone that knew him. Pop joined the US Navy, was stationed in Guam and honorably discharged in 1946. He was a proud veteran who was a member of the Caroline Memorial VFW #7937. His career was that of woodworking which he was a Master Craftsman. He was also a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge #203. In his time off he enjoyed boating and fishing. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by 2 daughters Sharon L. John is survived by his wife Phyllis LePore Vonville of 29 years, daughter Kimberly
Wood and husband Greg of Marydel MD., son John Vonville II of Morgantown
W.Va., daughter Denise Crossley and husband David of Sudlersville Md., and son
Anthony Vonville of Marydel Md. Grandchildren Greg and Gaige Wood, Emily and
Elyssa Crossley, and Kayden Vonville. His brother Pud Vonville and friend Helen
Knotts of Sudlersville Md. His sisters Dorothy Kimble
and husband Richard of Goldsboro, NC., Betty Pearson and husband Roger of
Clayton De., Barbara Gorski and husband Kevin of Felton De and several nieces
and nephews.
John graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1973. He worked at
Delmarva Sash and Door for 28 years and at the James T. Vaughn Correctional
Facility for 10 years. He was very active at the Marydel Fire Company.
John enjoyed his motorcycle, crabbing and eating crabs, hunting with his friend
Buddy, traveling with Phyllis, watching the Shore Birds and horse
races, and spending time with his grandchildren and his Lab Remmy.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Marydel Fire House. Service will be held at the Marydel Fire House at 11:00 AM on Friday officiated by Pastor Roland Coon with interment in the Greensboro Cemetery. William Henry “Buddy” Downes, Sr, 81 of Goldsboro died on Sept. 29, 2012 in the Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was born in Henderson on April 21, 1931 to the late Roy and Eleanor Ashton Downes. A lifetime resident of the area, Buddy had been employed with General Motors at the Delaware plant retiring in 1970. He raced stock cars at tracks all over the Eastern Shore. Naturally he was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed deer hunting, and cutting and splitting wood. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Linda Anthony. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Louise Downes, 1 son Buddy Downes, JR and wife Diane of Harrington, DE, 2 daughters Mildred Parks and husband Frank of Denton and Debra Steele of Goldsboro, 7 grandchildren Tammy Tribbett, Frannie Parks, Mindy Steele-Bailey(Eric), Heather Wolfenden(Matt), Danny Downes, Ashley Downes and Cody Downes, 6 great grandchildren Allison Tribbett, Wyatt Wright, Hailea, Matthew and Cheyenne Wolfenden and Lauren Steele-Baily.
